COVID-19 does not discriminate. It does not care how much money you have or where you live. It does not care that the Alaska Native way of life sometimes requires large gatherings or that some rural communities don’t have running water.
Many of our rural communities have been hit hard by COVID-19. A recent Centers for Disease Control study showed Alaska Natives and American Indians are nearly four times more likely to get the coronavirus than non-Native people. The vaccines are highly effective and necessary to protect our families and Elders.
